AFFINITY INSURANCE
APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

Overview of Affinity’s Insurance
Education & Training Apprenticeship

Picture
December 2017

As the demographics of the “typical” client have shifted, the makeup of the insurance professional has begun to change, in an effort to mirror the marketplace. The insurance industry is striving to focus on changing the demographics of insurance personnel. Insurance is a $6.2T industry with numerous positions to fit nearly every personality.

Typically, the insurance industry has presented barriers to diverse populations which include minority, women, and individuals who have not attended college. The Insurance Education and Training Apprenticeship Program has been designed to assist individuals who have a desire to enter the insurance industry under the strategic partnership of Affinity Planning and Insurance Group and The Conley Financial Group, in conjunction with St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment. The program was developed with Affinity Planning and Insurance Group, a non-profit organization developed to address the education of individuals interested in insurance or planning for the future in partnership with The Conley Financial Group, an independent insurance agency.

The program curriculum will consist of:
  1. 8 weeks course of study
  2. 6-hr classroom instruction
  3. 4 weeks on-the-job learning
  4. Small classes
  5. Shadow sessions @ different insurance carriers and brokerage firms.

Classes will be facilitated by experts within the industry, as well as life and business coaches. The experts will have experience in risk management, different types of insurance, agency operations, and marketing and selling insurance. The life and business coaches will focus on life skills, workforce readiness & development and an introduction to basic business skills from office etiquette to an introduction of Microsoft Office.

The classroom instruction was created to provide the participants with in-depth information directly from the experts who work on a day-to-day basis. As part of the instruction, our team will work to build knowledge in the insurance industry to provide a foundation for passing the test(s) to become licensed. Adding the Life Skills and Basic Business Skills sets promotes a well-rounded participant who is ready to assume a productive role in the industry.

We anticipate our first cycle starting in February 2017 with the graduates ready to enter the marketplace, full time in April 2018. As a follow-up, the program will maintain ongoing contact, mentoring, and support for the graduates, as they transition into their day-to-day work experience in the insurance industry.

Register for Courses or Inquire Today. Classes begin April 2018.
